It doesn’t fucking matter. A human life is precious no matter what. Maybe instead of abortion we should put more effort into anti rape campaigning or maybe kEEPING YOUR GODDAMN LEGS CLOSED.

All I’m saying is, people don’t put enough emphasis on the value of everyone as a person. It’s all about what I want and MY life and whether a child will fuck up my future. Which, if you think about it, is pretty selfish. Our culture is selfish as a whole. Pretty much every decision a person makes is made with their own self in mind and what the effect on them will be. Why can’t we ever make sacrifices for the good of another? Why are we only thinking about ourselves? If it was in fact your own choice which ended in a child being conceived, you need to take responsibility for that.
That being said, there are all too many pregnancies that are a result of rape. Which is why we need anti-rape campaigning and education. Rape is, once again, a selfish act. Someone putting their own self above the well-being of another.
Why, as a society, can’t we teach love and non-violence instead of selfishness?

TRIGGER WARNING for readers.

Point 1: This is not a black and white subject so do not pretend it is such. Abortions are used for a variety of reasons, whether it be due to rape, danger to the mother, danger to the unborn child, danger to both, an already dead child, etc. Abortion is a very difficult decision, and villainizing people who have to get them is not only careless and selfish, but cruel- putting people through even more grief then they are already enduring. People do not carelessly abort all the time.

Point 2: Until women finally have equal rights and aren’t considered less of a person then a clump of cells- stop harping about selfishness and non-violence. Women [and some men as well] face dehumanizing violence all the time, but no. Why care about that when they might have a clump of cells [that was possibly forced upon them].

Point 3: Anti-Rape training isn’t about teaching ‘keeping women’s legs closed’. That is PROMOTING RAPE CULTURE and BLAMING THE VICTIM. How dare you preach non violence while at the same time blaming the countless victims. Because they clearly asked for it if it happened to them right? They must have done something wrong that lured the rapist, huh? How dare you. Teaching responsibility, consent and that rape is NOT OK has to start with THE RAPISTS. Teaching males [and the teeny subset of women] that they cannot do what they want with a woman [or any partner, male or female], and to combat what the media constantly bombards [sexualization of women, power fantasies of men] .

Dressing in jeans and a big sweater WILL NOT KEEP YOU FROM BEING RAPED. Hiding from social places WILL NOT KEEP YOU FROM BEING RAPED. Why should men be allowed to walk freely, but women have to either lock themselves up out of terror or constantly be under pressure to make sure they don’t ‘attract a rapist onto themselves’?

BLAME THE RAPISTS. TEACH THE RAPISTS.

TEACH RESPONSIBILITY, WHAT CONSENT MEANS, AND BOTH RESPECT AND EQUALITY FOR EVERYONE. IT IS NOT THE VICTIMS FAULT.

ITS NOT THE VICTIMS FAULT IF THEY WERE SCARED OR SHY OR MARRIED TO YOU OR INTOXICATED.IT IS NOT THE VICTIMS FAULT IF THEY DIDN’T SAY NO OUT LOUD.

ALWAYS ASSUME NO UNLESS YOU AND THE PERSON YOU ARE WITH MAKE A CONSENSUAL RESPECTFUL AND CLEAR HEADED AGREEMENT ON WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.

Conclusion: These issues are not black and white. I am all for anti-violence, and for peace. But Don’t you DARE spew crap before you understand what you are talking about. Because you’ll just be preaching the opposite of what you were trying to say. Get your facts straight.

Pregnancy from rape and pregnancy from consensual sex are two ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS and I’m sorry if I didn’t make that clear enough in my post.
If someone gets pregnant from rape, it is a tragic thing and also a very touchy subject to deal with. I personally would not choose to abort, but one must consider the effects on the mother’s mental health as well as physical and she must be put first in that case.
HOWEVER, if it was in fact her own choice to have sex, that has consequences, however “safe” it is. You can’t have sex and then get pregnant and go “where did that baby come from? Surely not the sex I had!” You have to take responsibility for your own choices. And abortion isn’t an easy way out. Abortion creates a higher risk of depression and cervical issues and miscarriages in the future. I know a woman who aborted her first child and it changed her life and the way she parents her daughter now.
Being a clump of cells doesn’t make the fetus any less human. Technically everyone is a clump of cells. A fetus is a stage of human development, like a child or a baby. Once you get pregnant and give birth to something other than a baby, I’ll take back everything I said.
My argument isn’t about rape, because that is a whole separate issue. My argument is about abortion.

Abortion creates a higher risk of depression and cervical issues and miscarriages in the future. I know a woman who aborted her first child and it changed her life and the way she parents her daughter now.

Okay,that is absolute bullshit. Forcing someone to carry a child is more likely to cause depression. Also do you know what causes miscarriages later in life? BEING LATER IN LIFE. When you get older, your body may have more trouble carrying a child.

Also, followers, if you have any information about cervical cancer because I am not informed as I could be about abortion and cervical cancer, I’d love to know.

One large 2007 study examined 11,800 women and found that medically induced abortions did not cause an increase in the risk of future miscarriage or other pregnancy complications.

Also, just because you know one person who had one life experience does not make your opinion relevant for a majority of people.

Seriously, if anything, forcing a woman to carry an unwanted child is probably the worst possible thing you can do FOR THE CHILD. A child knows when it is unwanted. It can feel it. Forcing a child to grow up in those conditions does not add to the “preciousness” of life, it takes away from it. No child should have to be raised that way, just as no person should be forced into parenthood (assuming that they keep the child after its birth).

Still a better love story than Twilight.
